PB: SDM’s State of the Village Play-by-play
by SDM
The Ron Burgundy Moment
In the movie Anchorman, Ron Burgundy played by Will Ferrell, causes a scandal when instead of “stay classy San Diego” he says “I’m Ron Burgundy, go f@%k yourself San Diego.” You see, Burgundy’s nemesis Veronica Corningstone changed Burgundy’s usual cutout knowing Burgundy would read whatever appeared on the teleprompter.
SDM couldn’t help but think of that scene while watching Mayor Stanczyk deliver her State of the Village address. At 11:43, Stanczyk recognizes the village’s charter officers by asking them to stand. They do so and then it down. Stanczyk continues with the speech saying at 12:00, “thank you, you may be seated.” The room erupts in laughter as Stanczyk says: “It’s in the speech!”
SDM does not make this stuff up.
Burgundy Moment II – Nobody’s here!
(28:46) “If you are currently serving on an advisory board, please stand and be recognized.” Long pause…nobody stands. “I guess nobody’s here!”
Caught dozing?
SDM noticed that the speech at 47:11 is about three-quarters done, but Councilman Tendrich doesn’t know this fact in live time. Tendrich appears to have either nodded off or located a dropped contact lens on the carpet.
SDM understands. By this time the Mayor’s droning put a toddler in the first row into a sound sleep. Don’t worry Howard, even a spring chicken couldn’t stay awake.
SDM gets more hits than the Village!
Mayor Stanczyk reported that Palmetto Bay’s website gets “over 300 hits per day.” (57:36) SDM has you beat Mme. Mayor!
Dwindling crowd
At 1:02:48, SDM counted 55 people in the chamber still hanging in there, but lots of empty seats were visible. Major props to Commissioner Bell for sitting through the whole speech. SDM would have bolted for the door. Maybe sitting in the front row wasn’t such a good idea.
Dessert anyone? No, exodus.
The speech finally ended at about 1:03:53 whereupon the Manager asked if anyone was willing to enjoy some dessert. The crowd seemed to have had enough based on the exodus for the doors.
SDM Wonders: Did someone yell “fire…the Three Amigos.”
Very amusing. The person I feel sorriest for is Commissioner Bell, who was compelled to wallow in the trough of Village politics because it’s in her district. I’m sure she went home and showered with a wire brush after hanging around the Three Amigos. Ms. Bell’s dignity, politesse, acumen and intelligence is so far beyond that of the the Three Amigos, we can only hope that someone in the waiting to lead the council has her calibre. Stanczyk, Lindsay and Pariser never have and never will.
The play by play demonstrates just how far this village has fallen. What a joke of a turnout. Get a clue Stanczyk. No one wants to play with. The physical threats of the spouses, Templer and your husband, have finally driven everyone of note away. The three amigos need to get the message that their act has grown tired. It is time to reverse the slide caused exclusively by the three amigos. No one wants to buy your lies anymore.
First step is to replace Pariser, the recall the other two.
Stanzyck is toxic. She may argue that there are many more supporters, but I am sure they, the nearly dead, were home safely tucked into bed by their attendants, just having finsihed breakfast the night before.
Houston, We Have A Problem
The “State of the Village” should have been called “Everyone Off The Titanic, It’s Sinking” I would encourage everyone to see by comments on the previous blog where I show step by step how the Mayor tricked everyone into believing that hundreds of people showed up to here her speech.
Well, the curtain is now drawn back like in the Wizard of Oz, showing the great Oz for what he really was. A small pitiful leader who rules by using fear. Once the fear is gone, the party is over. Mrs. Mayor the party is over. I believe that Brian will go down in defeat as the residence of Palmetto Bay have now had the curtains pulled back to see the pitiful little person that we have leading us.
Unfortunately, now is not the Mayors time to be run out of town, but that’s coming. It is time to run our Incompetent Vice Mayor out town on Nov 6. By getting rid of the Vice Mayor, the grip that Shelley has on our town will be over.
No more unconstitutional laws will be written. No more discussions on needless NPO’s will dominate our Council meeting. Our churches and Schools can get back to teaching and praying without fear of being shut down. If you want to start a business you will be able to walk in and get a permit. All we need now is to get out the Vote.
Oh did I mention, Vote for John and Jim!
How do you spell Hypocrite? I’ll tell everyone Monday morning.
I am surprised that no one is taking the Mayor and Vice mayor to task for their blatant misuse of public office for political gain. Isn’t anyone concerned about Pariser’s sudden interest in town hall meetings? The village webiste indicates that he will host ‘a very unique Town Hall Meeting — as it will focus on a single — and very important issue to this community — the Citizens Crime Watch program.’ Crime watch the important issue for Brian? Balderdash. His interest is reelection. He has not had much interest in town hall meetings over his last 4 years.
He also seems to be playing ‘copycat’ on the prior events of the PBVV.
Brian needs to quit riding the coattails of the Palmetto Bay Village Voice and come up with something original.
